Her parents are Harvey Welker a Native American father, and Julie Welker an African-American mother. Her mother works as a real estate agent while her father works as engineer. Walker went to the Germantown Friends School of Philadelphia's Germantown, where she received an award in 1994. After that, in 1998, she earned her graduation at Harvard College with a Bachelor's degree. Welker is engaged to John Hughes a well-known marketing director at Merck at Philadelphia and they have two children. The couple began a relationship during 2014, when they were together.
