Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She is the author of fifteen books, and she is co-founder of The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is a journalist, television personality, philanthropist as well as the founder and editor of The Huffington Post. Her birthplace was in Greece and moved to England at the age of sixteen. When she attended Cambridge University, she graduated with a MA of Economics. She was the first person non-UK to serve as president of The Cambridge Union at the age 21. She became a conservative syndicated writer after the graduation ceremony and, when The Huffington Post launched a few years after, she created an online platform for voice which offered critiques of political scenarios. Her fame led to the recruitment of a variety of renowned contributors. Arianna became famous in 2003, when she ran as an independent in the California recall elections to replace Governor Davis. Alongside that, she led a Detroit campaign to encourage fuel-efficient vehicles. She was named one of the Most Influential Women in Media according to Forbes in 2009, and was awarded the 12th place in that list. The same year, the Guardian included her in the 100 most influential media on their list. AOL, Inc. appointed her President of their media company in 2011 following the purchased The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post also included the other AOL brands like Engadget, AOLmusic Style list and Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Although she was a close friend to her father, it was her bond with her mother which shaped her entire life. Through her early period, she displayed abilities to lead, and for this are still prominently known. In her 16th year, she travelled to England to pursue her studies and was enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. While in college she was a member of the Cambridge Union's colleges debating societies, which she later became the first foreign female president. In 1972, she earned a Masters in Economics. She worked as a critic, a TV host as well as a columnist following her graduation. In addition, she was a part of the show Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books with editorial assistance from Bernard Levin.
